Abstract:

The objective was to apply the Braden scale in people with Spinal Cord Injury (LM). A descriptive, cross-sectional study of a quantitative approach was carried out from July to September 2017. Twenty-eight patients with spinal cord injury were admitted to the Neurosurgery units in a tertiary referral hospital in Fortaleza-CE trauma. After applying the Braden Scale, it was observed that the patients presented a high risk to the mild risk to develop pressure injuries, as the risk factors for such occurrence were: subscale activity being score1 (Bedridden) with 100%, mobility score 2 ( Fairly limited) with 61%, friction and shear score 2 (Potential problem) with 50%. It is concluded that the application of the Braden scale is reliable and of great utility in the prevention of risk for pressure ulcer.
